The health condition of University of Santo Tomas player Steve Akomo is serious than everyone thought.
To the shock of his teammates and coaches, Akomo was diagnosed with blood clots on his cerebellum.
He’s now confined at the Intensive Care Unit of UST Hospital.
The 6-foot-8 Akomo, a Cameroonian who is in his final year, missed the team’s last two games, first against La Salle last Oct. 3 and against University of the East last Oct. 7.
Akomo last played on Sept. 29 against defending champion Ateneo.
When he first missed a game, the statement of UST – under coach Aldin Ayo – was that Akomo was suffering from food poisoning.
A few days later, he has concussion and further tests showed blood clots on his brain.
