MPBL: Stars hand Cagers first defeat

The Manila Stars dealt the Muntinlupa Cagers their first loss in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League Datu Cup with a 100-86 victory on Wednesday at the Muntinlupa Sports Complex.

Marvin Hayes and Reil Cervantes combined for 35 points, 14 rebounds and 11 assists while Aristotle Dionisio had 15 points and 20 points as the Stars snapped the Cagers’ eight game winning streak.

Christopher Bitoon also contributed 16 points for the Stars, who clinched their ninth win in 11 games.

In the other game, the Pasay Voyagers bested the Imus Bandera, 79-75, behind the efforts of Jan Jamon and Yves Ludovice.

Jamon pumped in 27 points even as Ludovice erupted with 23 points for the Voyagers, who improved to 4-7.

The Bandera evened their record at 5-5.
