The Philippine Embassy in Denmark is still checking with Danish authorities if any of the 12,000 members of the Filipino community in that country are among the victims of the train accident that happened on Wednesday.
“Ambassador to Denmark Jocelyn Batoon-Garcia reported to the Home Office that Philippine Honorary Consul General Poul Krogh is checking with Danish authorities if any of the 12,000 members of the Filipino community in Denmark are among the victims of the accident,” the Department of Foreign Affairs said.
Six people were killed when a Danish passenger train with 131 passengers onboard apparently hit a falling cargo from a passing freight on the Green Belt Bridge that links the islands of Zealand and Funen.
Reports said the victims were on their way to the central Danish island of Funen to the capital Copenhagen when the accident occurred at around 8 a.m.
Danish authorities said it was the deadliest railway accident in 30 years. (Roy C. Mabasa)
