THE father of a University of Santo Tomas (UST) legal management student has appealed for help to locate his daughter who went missing after a supposed immersion with farmers in Quezon province last December.
Roland Camingawan told a radio station on Tuesday that he lost contact with his daughter Rizza Divine, 18, on Christmas Eve.
“Napagpasyahan ko na po makipamuhay at maki-celebrate ngayong Pasko at Bagong Taon sa hanay ng mga magsasaka,” Divine said in a text message to her family last Dec. 19, the same day she was last seen.
She appealed to her parents to understand her for not being with them during the holidays.
“Hindi niyo man ako kapiling nang pisikal ngayong Pasko dahil napagpasyahan ko na ipagdiwang ito kasama ng mga magsasaka, narito lang ako sa mga puso niyo at hinding-hindi ako mawawala. Hiling ko lang naman ngayong pasko ay maintindihan niyo po ako,” she added.
Divine was reported to be a member of the League of Filipino Students (LFS)-UST and Anakbayan-UST when she was in UST Senior High School, according to The Varsitarian, UST’s official student publication.
It was learned that last Feb. 18, Divine and a group of Anakbayan-UST members were apprehended by faculty members after they staged a silent protest at the Buenaventura Garcia Paredes, O.P. Building. They were brought to the principal’s office and their IDs and mobile phones were confiscated.
Don Jose Salita, one of Divine’s co-servant in UST Campus Feast, said in a Facebook post that his friend is still missing.
“We, their family and friends anxiously and patiently awaiting her safe return or just to hear news of their whereabouts. For some reason Lord they are being held against her will, we command the abductors to release them unharmed in the name of Jesus Christ!,” he said in his post. (Erma Edera)
