Bulacan Kuyas and Bacoor Strikers outlasted separate opponents to post their second straight victory in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League Datu Cup at the STRIKE gym in Cavite.
Jason Melano and Jay-R Taganas steered the Kuyas to an 86-82 win over the Caloocan Supremos while Mark Montuano and Gab Banal helped the Strikers pull off a 90-87 triumph over the Quezon City Capitals.
Melano posted 15 points and five assists while Taganas flexed his muscles to score 12 points and haul 12 rebounds in leading the Caesar Wongchuking-owned Kuyas to their 13th win in 21 matches.
The Kuyas also got a big lift from Stephen Siruma, Jonathan Ballon and James Martinez, who merged for 37 points.
The Supremos skidded to 8-14 despite Paul Sanga scoring 21 points and Danny Marilao finishing with 17 points.
