ONE reaches record viewership for ‘A NEW ERA’ with 41.9 M viewers

ONE Chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong was elated to announce that ONE: A NEW ERA garnered a total of 41.9 million viewers last 31 March, a staggering number as ONE Championship expands to Tokyo, Japan.

It was a huge step for The Home Of Martial Arts, as from an average of 700,000 viewers just four years ago according to surveyor Nielsen, ONE has breached the multi-million level.

Don’t expect them to start slowing down soon.

“I’m thrilled to announce that ONE: A New Era in Japan broke a new record viewership high for ONE Championship with 41.9m viewers from around the world,” said Sityodtong.

“While it did not hit the target of 50 million that my team and I had set out to achieve when we decided to throw this mega event in Tokyo, I am full of gratitude and appreciation to the greatest fans in the world.”

Three Filipinos highlighted the card – led by Eduard “Landslide” Folayang who was unsuccessful in defending his ONE Lightweight World Title against Shinya “Tobikan Judan” Aoki.

Kevin “The Silencer” Belingon likewise dropped his ONE Bantamweight World Title to Bibiano “The Flash” Fernandes, while Danny “The King” Kingad turned out to be the saving grace for Team Lakay after beating Senzo Ikeda in the ONE Flyweight World Grand Prix.

For Sityodtong, this is just the beginning as ONE looks to continue to breach new heights moving forward.

“Our 3-year goal is to achieve an average of 100m viewers per event,” Sityodtong boldly said. “It might sound crazy, but I work with the best team on the planet.”
