Family of 5 nabbed in Marikina buy-bust

handcuffedFive family members were arrested by the police in a buy-bust operation in Marikina City in the wee hours of Easter Sunday.

Police identified the suspects as Romeo Villanueva, alias “Jun,” 49; Philip Villanueva, 24; Randy Villanueva, 33; Benny Villanueva, 21; and Anjo Flores, 31, all residents of Barangay Fortune.

Investigation showed that around midnight of Easter Sunday, the Marikina police conducted a sting operation against the targets in Barangay Fortune.

Police said the sting stemmed from a report of a tipster which said the family members are allegedly involved in the illegal drugs trade in the area.

Shortly after handing over the sachet of illegal drugs, cops closed in and apprehended the suspects.

Police seized four sachets of suspected shabu, P730 cash, a coin purse, and the P500 marked money.

The suspects are now detained at Marikina police detention cell and will be charged for violating Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, police said. (Jhon Casinas)
