Former Manila Mayor Alfredo Lim on Thursday accepted defeat and asked the Manileños to support the newly proclaimed Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso in running the country’s capital.
The 89-year-old Lim wished the other winners’ “success in their governance” because this would benefit the citizens of Manila.
He also called his supporters to help the incoming administration of Moreno.
Domagoso defeated Lim of the Partido Demokratiko Pilipino – Lakas ng Bayan who garnered 138, 923 votes (22%).
Meanwhile, Lim also debunked the statement of outgoing Mayor Joseph Ejercito “Erap” Estrada that he left Manila City Hall bankrupt in 2013.
He cited a certification from the city’s treasurer office to prove that Manila was debt-free when his term ended in June 2013.
“When I left the city hall on June 30, city hall was not bankrupt. If its bankrupt where do they get the salary of the employees. They got it from here,” Lim said, in reference to a certification dated on July 4, 2013.
The certification showed that his office had P800 million in cash and more than P778 million distributed in seven banks as savings.
Lim said that the statements made by Estrada from 2013 until now were not true. (Erma Edera)
