Around P20.2-million worth of suspected shabu was recovered from a Chinese and three Filipinos during a buy-bust operation in Valenzuela City last Friday.
Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Region 4-A Director Adrian Alvarino identified the Chinese as Wu Lianlai from Fujian, China. Alvarino said that Wu is an illegal drugs supplier connected with the “Golden Triangle,” an international illegal drugs syndicate operating in Southeast Asia.
Two Chinese members of the group were killed during a firefight with anti-illegal drugs operatives after they conducted a buy-bust against them and seized around P1.9-billion worth of suspected shabu in Tanza, Cavite last February.
Wu’s three Filipino companions were identified as Florencio Serdon, Sunbenny Marquez Jr., and Christopher dela Cruz, who were suspected of making drug deliveries.
Alvarino said that Wu was put under surveillance for several months.
Joint elements of the PDEA Region 4-A, PDEA Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, PDEA Region 1, PDEA National Capital Region, PDEA Special Enforcement Service, and the Armed Forces of the Philippines conducted a drug sting at the house of Wu in Barangay Maysan at around 12:30 p.m.
The suspects were arrested after they sold shaby to poseur-buyers. Seized from them were three packs of shabu weighing three kilos with estimated market value of P20.2 million and P1,000 marked money.
The PDEA said that cases for violation of Sections 5 and 11 of the Article 2 of Republic Act No. 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 are being prepared against them. (Joseph Pedrajas)
