MalacaƱang has declared June 24 a special-non working day in Manila in celebration of its 448th founding anniversary.
Malacanang yesterday released a copy of Proclamation No. 731 signed by Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea on June 4 declaring the holiday.
Medialdea said in the proclamation that is only right that ManileƱos be given the chance to commemorate the 448th Araw ng Maynila.
This year marks the last Araw ng Maynila under the leadership of Manila Mayor Joseph Estrada following his defeat to former Vice Mayor Isko Moreno in the May 13 midterm elections. (Argyll Cyrus B. Geducos)
