A low-pressure spotted near Zamboanga del Sur will bring rain showers and thunderstorms over Mindanao, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration said yesterday.
PAGASA weather specialist Gener Quitlong said the LPA was spotted 40 kilometers east of Zamboanga City, Zamboanga del Sur yesterday morning.
Quitlong said LPA is unlikely to develop into a tropical depression and may dissipate in the coming days.
However, the LPA will bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over the Zamboanga Peninsula, Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, Northern Mindanao, and Socsargen.
PAGASA warned residents that rains from the LPA and thunderstorms could trigger flash floods or landslides.
Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers due to localized thunderstorms.
Meanwhile, the LPA being monitored by PAGASA near General Santos City has dissipated. (Alexandria San Juan)
