The Games and Amusement Board is mulling the possibility of revoking the license of suspended Phoenix Pulse star Calvin Abueva for appearing in a barangay tournament without the consent of his PBA team last week.
Abueva put himself in danger of being penalized with a stiffer punishment when he suited up in a game held in Montalban, Rizal despite serving an indefinite suspension for a pair of misconducts committed in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup.
GAB Chairman Abraham Mitra said Abueva’s participation will hold a big weight in the government agency’s ongoing investigation regarding the matter.
“GAB can possibly revoke his license,” Mitra said Thursday’s “Usapang Sports” session of the Tabloids Organization in Philippine Sports at the National Press Club.
Abueva was banned indefinitely by the PBA last month for making a lewd gesture at Maika Rivera, the girlfriend of Blackwater rookie Ray Parks Jr., and for hitting TNT KaTropa import Terrence Jones with a clothesline.
GAB recently asked Abueva to submit a written letter explaining his side in the incident between him and Jones. (JONAS TERRADO)
