Basilan blasted expansion squad Mindoro, 105-89, for its third straight in the MPBL Lakan Season held Thursday at the Caloocan City gym.
The Jumbo Plastic-backed Steel came out more aggressive, scoring 62 points inside the shaded lane while also forcing their rivals to commit 28 turnovers.
That resulted to 44 turnovers for Basilan, which overpowered Mindoro at almost every turn on its way to notching its sixth win in nine games and moving up to fourth spot in the southern division of this tournament put up by Senator Manny Pacquiao with PBA legend and former MVP Kenneth Duremdes serving as commissioner.
Six players ended up in double figures for Basilan, which shot 48-percent from the field (44-of-90) and limited the Mac Baracael-less Mindoro team to just 36-percent shooting (26-of-71).
Like Basilan, Caloocan also picked up its third straight win via an 89-74 drubbing of Bacolod-Master Sardines.
In the other game, Makati shackled Ronjay Buenafe and the rest of the Bicol Volcanoes as the Super Crunch coasted to an 83-75 triumph.
