The Bureau of Immigration (BI) is deporting two Americans wanted by their government for allegedly stealing the bank account numbers and withdrawing the salaries of US military servicemen worldwide.
BI Deputy Spokesperson Melvin Mabulac said Robert Wayne Boling Jr., 38, and Allan Albert Velarde Kerr, 30, were arrested by operatives from the bureau’s fugitive search unit (FSU).
FSU chief Bobby Raquepo said the duo are subject of arrest warrant issued by the US district court in Texas.
They were charged with wire fraud, conspiracy to commit money laundering and identity theft.
Raquepo said the aliens have been in the country for years allegedly carrying out nefarious operations with their cohorts here and in the US.
The US embassy stated that the group had gained access to various computer systems of the US defense department, extracting the identification number of military servicemen.
The ring used the information to take over the bank accounts of the soldiers transmitting their salaries and other emoluments to their accomplices in the Philippines. (Jun Ramirez)
