A magnitude-6.1 earthquake jolted Davao Occidental yesterday.
According to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology, the magnitude-6.1 quake was recorded around 10:02 a.m. and its epicenter was estimated at 126 kilometers southeast of Jose Abad Santos, Davao Occidental.
Phivolcs said the earthquake was felt at Intensity 3 as a weak tremor in Kidapawan City and Davao City.
It added that instrumental intensities recorded were Intensity 4 or moderately strong in Kiamba and Alabel in Sarangani, General Santos City, and Tupi in South Cotabato.
It registered Intensity 3 in Gingoog City in Kidapawan City, and Intensity 1 or scarcely perceptible in Bislig City and Cagayan de Oro City.
Phivolcs does not expect damage to property or loss of lives due to the earthquake. Aftershocks are also not expected to occur. (Ellalyn V. Ruiz and Ivy Tejano)
