Defending champion Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and Department of Agriculture dispute Group A lead while Malacañang-Philippine Sports Commission goes for its fourth straight Group B win tomorrow in the 8th UNTV Cup at the Pasig City Sports Center.
The AFP Cavaliers and the DA Food Masters clash at 3:30 p.m. with the former staking their 3-0 record while the latter hope to extend their winning run to three games in the event organized by UNTV President and CEO Dr. Daniel Razon for public servants.
The Kamao of Malacañang-PSC, on the other hand, intend to add the Philippine National Police Responders to their growing list of victims in their 5 p.m. encounter.
Meantime, the PITC Global Traders try to get back on winning track and improve their 1-2 mark when they collide with the SSS Kabalikat at 2 p.m.
The chosen charity of the champion team will receive P4 million, the runner-up’s own charity gets P2 million while the third and fourth placers shall take P1 million each.
Even without their leading scorer Erick dela Cuesta, the Kamao easily beat the GSIS Furies, 102-69, last Sunday – thanks to the team’s well-balanced attack.
Despite the runaway win the last time, the Kamao are not taking the Responders lightly since the former champions are eager to nail their first win in three starts.
Fierce battle is also expected in the AFP-Agriculture showdown with the reigning titlists – bannered by Eugene Tan, Jerry Lumongsod, Boye Bautista, and Alvin Zuniga – out to keep their clean record intact against a team that has former collegiate stars Emerson Oreta and Henry Fernandez in its fold.
