DAVAO CITY – President Duterte is set to fly to Japan tomorrow to attend the enthronement of new Japanese Emperor Naruhito, long-time Duterte aide now Sen. Bong Go bared yesterday.
Go said the President was invited by the Japanese government to witness the coronation of Naruhito.
“That is a rare opportunity to witness kay panagsa lang sila mag ilis og emperor (they rarely change their emperors),” he said.
Go said the President will depart from the Davao City International Airport.
Malacañang had earlier said the President will skip the event because he is busy and may send a representative instead.
Naruhito will be crowned on Tuesday, in the presence of dignitaries from over 190 countries. He succeeded his father, Emperor Akihito, last May 1. (Armando Fenequito Jr.)
