The low-pressure area east of Mindanao will likely bring some rains over Visayas and Mindanao in the next few days.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration estimated the location of the LPA at 295 kilometers east of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur yesterday morning.
PAGASA weather specialist Meno Mendoza said the LPA remains less likely to intensify into a tropical cyclone but rains may still be felt in the Bicol region, Visayas, and Mindanao, including parts of Southern Luzon and Palawan, in the coming days.
He added that the LPA could traverse the Visayas-Mindanao area on its way to the West Philippine Sea.
For now, the LPA will likely bring scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Palawan, Albay, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Catanduanes, Sorsogon, Masbate, Visayas, and Mindanao.
Landslides over mountainous regions or flash floods over low-lying areas are possible during severe thunderstorms, PAGASA warned.
The northeast monsoon or “amihan” will affect Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pangasinan, Apayao, Kalinga, Abra, Mountain Province, Ifugao, Benguet, Isabela, Batanes, Cagayan, Nueva Vizcaya, Quirino, and Aurora.
Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains will persist in these areas.
Metro Manila and the rest of the country will experience fair weather with chances of isolated rain showers in the afternoon or evening due to localized thunderstorms. (Ellalyn V. Ruiz)
