BALAGTAS, Bulacan – Authorities seized Tuesday afternoon P6 million worth of untaxed cigarettes at Fonchun Compound in Barangay Santol, this town.
Acting Bulacan police director Colonel Emma M. Libunao said members of the Special Concern Unit-Regional Intelligence Division (RID 3), Balagtas Municipal Police, Regional Mobile Force Battalion (RMFB 3), Japan Tobacco International (JTI) and Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) Tobacco Striking Force launched an operation against John Lee and his cohorts based on the mission order issued by Arnel SD. The operation resulted in the confiscation of 245 master cases of untaxed cigarettes such as Modern Far Star (filter), Far Star (mentholated), R.G.D., D&B, F&S worth around P6 million.
The confiscated items are now under the custody of the BIR for documentation prior filing of appropriate charges in court.
Follow-up operation is ongoing to apprehend the suspects. (Freddie C. Velez)
