Typhoon “Tisoy” left more than P1-billion worth of damage to agriculture, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said yesterday.
The NDRRMC said hardest hit are Bicol and the Mindoro Oriental and Occidental, Marinduque, Romblon, and Palawan area (Region 4-B).
The NDRRMC is expecting more as the assessment is still ongoing in various areas that also include Eastern Visayas.
Damage to agriculture is P1.2 billion – P667 million in Bicol, P442 million in Region 4-B, and P15 million in Region 4-A (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, and Quezon area).
Damage to agriculture include rice, coconut, vegetables, high-value crops, fisheries, and livestock.
Region 4-B also reported P167 million in damage to infrastructure that include roads, schools, power, and water facilities and irrigation facilities.
At least 71,000 houses were damaged in Bicol, Eastern Visayas, and Mimaropa by Tisoy.
More than 500,000 persons from Bicol, Quezon, Eastern Visayas, and Mimaropa were affected by the weather disturbance, most of them are from Bicol with 414,000. (Aaron Recuenco)
