KORONADAL CITY, SOUTH COTABATO – The National Telecommunications Commission has ordered the closure of a local radio station for failing to secure a permit to operate.
NTC regional Froilan Jamias said the cease-and-desist order was served to Top Gun Radio Koronodal for failing to secure a provisional authority to operate from NTC.
Edgargo Desca, radio station manager, said he was informed by Jamias that the NTC central office issued the CDO after it received a complaint against the radio station owned by Zabala Mass Media Broadcasting Services.
He said the NTC official did not categorically specify the complaint and the complainant which prompted the NTC national office to close down the radio station which had been operating for the past six months.
Desca said the application for provisional authority to operate is now pending with the NTC.
The said radio station was previously operated by KAPA Ministry, whose founder, Joel Apolinario, was recently arrested for his involvement in multi-million investment scam.
The radio station was reportedly bought by South Cotabato Gov. Reynaldo Tamayo who denied ownership over the broadcast facility.
However, he said the radio station was able to secure the required business permit from the local government.
Desca decried foul over the issuance of the closure order by the NTC, sayig that there are several local radio stations operating in the city which do not have provisional authority to operate. (Joseph Jubelag)
