Around 70 partygoers, most of them are foreigners, were apprehended for not practicing social distancing at a restaurant bar in Makati City on Saturday night, police said.
Makati Police Assistant Chief of Police for Operations (ACOPO) Major Tyrone Valenzona said policemen swooped down on a restaurant bar in Barangay Poblacion, Makati around 11:20 p.m.
Valenzona said that they received a complaint about a party at the restaurant bar.
Members of Makati Police Substation 6 went to the restaurant bar and saw its customers not practicing social distancing.
They contacted the Makati Public Safety Department (PSD) to give the partygoers P1,000 citation tickets that they need to settle at the Makati City Hall.
“Most of the apprehended individuals are foreigners. They were not practicing social distancing,” he said.
“This is the fifth establishment that we operated in Makati. We are serious in implementing minimum health protocols to help stop the spread of COVID-19,” Valenzona added.
After getting their citation tickets, the violators were sent home by the Makati Police, reminding them to settle their fines.
“They have to settle their P1,000 violation tickets at the City Hall on Monday,” he said.
On September 18, five German diplomats and 35 other partygoers were arrested for quarantine violations at a bar, which is also located in Barangay Poblacion. (Jel Santos)
