The en banc decision of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) to scrap mall voting for the May 9, 2016 elections raises a lot of question specifically because such decision was arrived at April 26 and announced the following day or less than two weeks before election day.

No Comment

So the surveys show a big chunk of the population haven’t made up their minds about their choice for president. Has it occurred to the pollsters and analysts that maybe it’s not so much that the voters are undecided as that they’ve decided not to decide because, to quote a few cynics and skeptics, “they’re promising heaven and earth” and “what change can we expect, they’re all the same”? “The same” goes back many administrations, many presidents, what else is new?

It is the month of special festivals that draw visitors from all over the country and from around the world. It is the month of flowers, for the rains start falling in May after the hot summer months, and the scent of sampaguitas, ilang-ilang, roses, and other blooms – the Flores de Mayo – is in the air.

Beijing is planning to clear the smog from the skies with the help of Mother Nature. The latest proposal is to build a ventilation corridor. It calls for creating five wind routes, more than 500 meters wide, which run largely from the capital’s northern suburban areas to the south. Some secondary corridors will be more than 80 meters wide. The corridor will be created by connecting the city’s parks, rivers, highways along with their green belts, as well as low building blocks.
