‘Vinta’ hits land today

Tropical storm “Vinta” (international name “Tembin”) has slightly accelerated and was expected to make landfall over the Caraga-Davao region last night or this morning, State weather agency Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration said yesterday.

A new low-pressure area east of Mindanao has a high probability of intensifying into a tropical cyclone within 24 hours, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration.
PAGASA estimated the location of the LPA at 150 kilometers east-northeast of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur before noon yesterday.
