Brazil ‘Olympic’ jaguar shot dead

A jaguar trotted out for the Olympic torch’s passage through Brazil’s Amazon but was killed shortly afterward when it escaped its handlers and threatened a vet, the Brazilian military said Tuesday.

The World Health Organization (WHO) is holding an emergency meeting any day now to make a new evaluation of the public health hazards of holding the summer Olympics this August in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
