Metro, 18 areas under signal No. 1 due to ‘Salome’

Nineteen areas, including Metro Manila, were placed under tropical cyclone warning signal No. 1 as the low-pressure area east of the country intensified into tropical depression “Salome” yesterday.

Two soldiers were killed while seven others were wounded in an encounter with suspected New People’s Army rebels yesterday in Barangay Casili, Gubat, Sorsogon.
