‘None of the Above’

I AM glad the Namfrel (National Movement for Free Elections) has supported the “None of the Above” option for when they believe none of the candidates is deserving of the people’s vote. This was part of the watchdog’s inputs for electoral reform.

The Commission on Elections en banc yesterday issued a resolution allowing it to continue accepting Statement of Contributions and Expenditures of candidates in the last elections beyond June 30, 2016 but with the appropriate fines.

REPUBLIC Act 7166 providing for Synchronized National and Local Elections and for Electoral Reforms provides in Section 14 that every candidate and treasurer of a political party participating in an election must file an itemized statement of all contributions and expenditures in connection with the election within 30 days after election day.
