Villar pushes for animal wastes management

Senator Cynthia Villar urged farmers to take small steps in mitigating the effects of climate change by turning animal wastes into compost and renewable energy sources.

In Paris, France, last week, 80 of the world’s top economists called for an end to the development of coal, oil, and gas energy in order to avoid the ravages of global warming. They issued a statement in advance of the One Planet Summit which opened in Paris yesterday, with 100 countries represented and more than 50 heads of state attending.

A MASSIVE iceberg, said to be as large as the United States state of Delaware split off from Antarctica’s Larsen C Shelf in the South Pole early this month. The iceberg is said to have an area of about 5,800 square kilometers – bigger than our Cebu island – and weighs over a trillion tons.

At the start of his administration, President Duterte expressed his opposition to the Paris Agreement on Climate Change signed at the United Nations in 2016 by some 170 nations, including the Philippines. He said it would hold back the nation’s industrial growth. He saw it as an imposition by developed nations, notably the United States and China, which had achieved growth through industries that polluted the world’s atmosphere and now want to stop other nations that are similarly industrializing.
