Storm off Batanes intensifies

Tropical depression “Emong” (international name “Nanmadol”) further intensified into a tropical storm while on its way outside the country’s area of responsibility, the State weather bureau said yesterday.

Monsoon rains and thunderstorms are likely for most places, particularly in the western section of Luzon and Visayas over the next five days, according to state weather forecasters.
