CoA seeks probe of officials in P38-B Malampaya fund releases

The Commission on Audit has recommended the conduct of criminal investigation on former and incumbent officials of the Department of Budget and Management and other government agencies after State auditors found serious irregularities in the release of P38.807 billion in Malampaya funds from 2004 to 2012.

Quezon City, Cebu, and Cainta, Rizal have been identified by the Commission on Audit as the country’s wealthiest city, province, and municipality for the second consecutive year.

A former Bulacan provincial official has asked the Commission on Audit (CoA) to conduct a special audit of the reportedly misspent calamity fund expenditures of the province. In a letter to CoA Chairwoman Maria Gracia Pulido Tan, former board member Teofilo Rivera said the appeal for the conduct of a special audit was triggered by calls from various local and barangay groups that received reports of irregularities in the expenditures.
