CA allows mining firm to operate in Masbate

After several hearings late last year, the Court of Appeals last week handed down a decision that denied the plea of residents in Aroroy, Masbate for an environmental protection order against the operation of a gold mining firm in their town.

An anti-crime watchdog group yesterday expressed dismay over the Supreme Court’s (SC)’s final ruling that absolved Senator Panfilo Lacson from the much publicized Dacer-Corbito double murder case and declared former Police Supt. Cesar Mancao II to be an “incredible and unworthy witness.

The Court of Appeals (CA) has ordered the revival of the kidnapping with ransom case against former Indanan, Sulu Mayor Alvarez Isnaji and his son, Haider, in connection with the abduction of an ABS-CBN News team in 2008, and ordered the setting aside of a trial court order last year that acquitted them.
