Senators seek review of distracted driving rules

Senators yesterday called for a review of the Anti-Distracted Driving Act as they expressed regret that transportation officials watered down the whole intent of the law with the enforcement of numerous and unnecessary restrictions and limitations against drivers.

The Land Bank of the Philippines is putting up a P1 billion credit facility for a pilot project that would allow cooperatives and transport organizations to seek loans which aims to modernize their jeepney fleets.

CONGRESS last year enacted a bill creating a Department of Transportation (DoTr) and a separate Department of Information and Communication Technology (DICT). Transportation alone is such a big area that the DOTr is today up to its neck in the difficult problem of traffic gridlock in Metro Manila and other urban centers in the country. As for the DICT, it must plan for the great new world of digital communication in the cyber universe that knows no bounds on our planet.
