Senate asserting itself with its own Con-Ass

The senators of the country have decided to defend their institution from attempts to abolish it through constitutional amendment in a Constitutional Assembly (Con-Ass).

Sen. Panfilo “Ping” M. Lacson yesterday formally asked the Senate, with the approval of three-fourths of its members, to compose itself into a Constituent Assembly to propose amendments to the 1987 Constitution.
