‘Warranto’ petition vs CJ submitted for ruling

The petition that sought the disqualification and ouster of Chief Justice-on leave Maria Lourdes P. A. Sereno as head of the Judiciary is now officially submitted for resolution with the filing yesterday of the parties’ respective memorandum, the last pleading required by the Supreme Court.

Sereno to face colleagues

For the first time in the history of the country’s judiciary, an incumbent Chief Justice will face her colleagues in the Supreme Court (SC) on Tuesday next week not as head of the judiciary but as respondent in the petition that sought her disqualification and ouster.

Gov’t defends FM burial at Libingan

Solicitor General Jose C. Calida told the Supreme Court yesterday that burying the late President Ferdinand E. Marcos at the Libi-ngan ng mga Bayani (LNMB) “is not to honor him as a hero, even if by military standards he is, but to accord him the simple mortuary befitting a President.”
