Lariba, Lacuña, Suarez kick off PH campaign

The Philippines kicks off its campaign in the Rio Olympics on three fronts Saturday with a young table tennis player, a dedicated swimmer and a seasoned boxer hoping to provide the spark for the 13-strong delegation

Ian Lariba of the Philippines said she was not bothered by a sudden change in opponent, adding that she’s ready to take on anybody in the singles event of women’s table tennis in this Rio Olympics.

Lariba is latest Olympian

National player Ian ‘Yan-yan’ Lariba captured the last remaining Olympic slot when he defeated Indonesian Lilis Indriani Saturday night in the women’s singles division of 2016 International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) Asian Olympic Qualification Tournament in Hong Kong.
