Troops, BIFF clash in Maguindanao

Troops from the Army 6th Infantry Division clashed anew with members of the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters in Mamasapano, Maguindanao Wednesday, resulting in the recovery of improvised explosive devices and other materials.

Two years after 44 Special Action Force (SAF) commandos of the Philippine National Police (PNP) were killed in battle in Mamasapano, Maguindanao, it is back in the news with President Duterte announcing that he has ordered the creation of an independent commission to look into it.

Sen. Alan Peter S. Cayetano yesterday assured the families of the 44 Philippine National Police Special Action Force members killed in Mamasapano, Maguindanao in January 2015 that justice which they failed to achieve during the previous government would be served under the Duterte administration.

ET out the vote” says more than “go out and vote” in a massive exercise that’s meant to shape the future and the destiny of your country. For all that pompousness of purpose, it’s simply saying that better than leaving your residence to go to the polling precinct, you should encourage others – in your circle, family, neighborhood, community – to do just that. Get out the vote instead of merely going out to vote.
