Bomb attempt in Metro Manila foiled

Police said they foiled bomb attacks set to be carried out in Metro Manila with the arrest of a 35-year old member of a Central Mindanao-based terror group and confiscation of bomb materials in a raid in Quezon City.

Solving the traffic problem in Metro Manila, especially in EDSA is undoubtedly a tough job. While we should commend the current leadership of the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) for the various initiatives to solve the problem, we also need to point out that the agency and other concerned government agencies also need a serious follow through of previous initiatives and a strict implementation of traffic rules and regulations as well as other applicable laws.

THE jeepney has a revered place in our history. When American liberation forces came in 1945, the ubiquitous jeep took over the country’s streets from the horse-dawn calesa. It was remodeled initially to fit six passengers in two rows at the back. The three-seat rows became longer over the years – to five, ten, and today as many as 20 on one side – so that the bigger jeepneys today can accommodate 42 passengers just like buses.
