A Bangsamoro EO, just in case

Just in case plans for revising the Philippine Constitution get delayed or derailed, or Congress fails anew to enact a Bangsamoro Basic Law (BBL), President Duterte has drawn up plans for a Bangsamoro territory to be created via an executive order.

At least 5 members of the extremist Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) were killed Tueday following an intense battle with government soldiers in Carmen, North Cotabato, military officials said.

Congress has approved the extension of the proclamation of martial law in Mindanao to December 31, 2018. It was originally proclaimed last May 23 when the fighting broke out in Marawi, then extended by Congress to the end of this year.

It was, however, so objectionable in the eyes of so many quarters that the Aquino administration ended without the BBL being approved by Congress.
