Kanlaon remains restive

According to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology, Kanlaon’s seismic monitoring network recorded 578 volcanic earthquakes from 8 a.m Tuesday to 8 a.m. yesterday.

At least 155 volcanic earthquakes were detected by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology 24-hour seismic monitoring network near Mount Kanlaon in Negros Oriental.

Mount Kanlaon erupts

A report from Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the phreatic eruption, the result of ground water coming into contact with magma, occurred at around 9:19 a.m. and was ongoing as of 9:46 a.m.
