ARMM on its 27th anniversary

The ARMM was created on August 1, 1989, by Republic Act 6734, pursuant to a constitutional mandate for the creation of autonomous regions in Muslim Mindanao and the Cordilleras. The ARMM – composed of the provinces of Basilan, Lanao del Sur, Maguindanao, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi – was inaugurated over a year later, on November 6, 1990, in the provisional regional capital, Cotabato City.

Rains spawned by typhoon “Karen” have submerged 81 barangays in 10 towns in Maguindanao and affected 24,951 residents, a disaster official of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao said.
