Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao Gov. Mujiv Hataman will issue a directive indefinitely suspending the mayor of Talitay, Maguindanao today for absence without official leave in violation of the Local Government Code in the ARMM.
The ARMM was created on August 1, 1989, by Republic Act 6734, pursuant to a constitutional mandate for the creation of autonomous regions in Muslim Mindanao and the Cordilleras. The ARMM – composed of the provinces of Basilan, Lanao del Sur, Maguindanao, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi – was inaugurated over a year later, on November 6, 1990, in the provisional regional capital, Cotabato City.Continue reading …
