Gov’t acts on ‘tanim bala’ cases in local airports

Malacañang assured the people yesterday that the government will go after those involved in the “tanim bala” scam at the Ninoy Aquino International and other airports in the country.

The Court of Appeals (CA) has sustained its earlier decision dismissing the P100-million civil suit that network giant GMA Network Inc. (GMA Channel 7) lodged against its rival television company ABS-CBN (Channel 2).

The Bureau of Immigration (BI) deported four alien fugitives wanted by authorities in Taipei for serious crimes, it was learned yesterday. Immigration Commissioner Ricardo A. David Jr. said the foreigners were deported aboard a China Airlines flight to Taipei, Taiwan that left the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) last Thursday. David identified the four deportees as Chang Che- Wei, Yeh Ching-Shun, Chen Po-Hua, and Yen Jung Wu.
