Weather before New Year

Cloudy skies with scattered rain showers will prevail in Luzon and Visayas this weekend before the New Year due to the tail-end of a cold front and the “amihan” or northeast monsoon, the State weather bureau said yesterday.

The death toll from tropical storm “Vinta” (international name “Tembin”) climbed swiftly to 133 yesterday, as rescuers pulled dozens of bodies from a swollen river, police said.
