Youth’s greater access to family planning urged

To curb the rising number of teenage pregnancy, the United Nations Population Fund (UNPFA) wants the Filipino youth to have greater access to the government’s family planning program.

Due to the continued prevalence of high teenage pregnancy in the country, an estimated P34 billion is being lost yearly, it was disclosed during the multi-sectoral dialogue on the fifth anniversary of the passage of the Reproductive Health (RH) law.

‘Prove contraceptives are not abortifacients’

The Supreme Court (SC) gave the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) 60 days to determine if the contraceptive drugs and implants sought to be procured and distributed by the Department of Health (DoH) under the Reproductive Health Law are “abortifacients.”
