MVP group lauds PSC’s initiative

Al Panlilio, who heads the MVP Sports Foundation that patronizes the country’s major sports, has praised the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) in its quest to upgrade the level of play of the Filipino athlete.

The Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) has assured the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) that the delegation to the 29th Southeast Asian Games in Malaysia is not bloating to grotesque levels.

Asian body names 3 Pinoys among best

ABAP’s 2014 discovery Criztian Pitt Laurente, 16 years old of General Santos City, was cited as Best Junior Boxer in Asia for 2016 for his spectacular Gold Medal win in the Children of Asia Tournament held in Yakutsk, Russia last July. Laurente won the only gold medal for the Philippines in that competition, where Filipinos competed in 9 different sports.

Running unopposed, Jose ‘Peping’ Cojuangco was elected as president for the Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) for the fourth time yesterday, getting 26 votes out of a possible 37 in what the veteran Tarlac lawmaker described as the dirtiest runup to the elections.
