Trump backs ‘One China’

President Donald Trump on Thursday told Chinese President Xi Jinping he would respect the “One China” policy, the White House said, in their first conversation since the US leader came to power.

US President Donald Trump on Wednesday sent a letter to China’s President Xi Jinping saying he looked forward to working with him “to develop a constructive relationship” that benefits both countries, the White House said in a statement.
