MANILA, Philippines – Malacanañg said yesterday the high approval and trust rating of President Aquino in the latest Pulse Asia survey shows the public’s stronger faith in the leadership of the Chief Executive.
In a statement, Presidential Spokesperson Edwin Lacierda said that the Aquino administration is aware that the approval and trust rating of the President may vary over time but the latest survey result is very well appreciated.
The latest Pulse Asia survey showed a 77 percent approval rating from the previous 71 percent and a 75 percent trust rating from the previous 71 percent.
“It is an affirmation that more than a year into the current administration, the people’s faith in their leadership has not wavered, and has in fact become stronger,” Lacierda said.
“It is expected that survey numbers will fluctuate, and while we in government appreciate this development, we continue to raise the bar higher for ourselves so that every aspect of the President’s Social Contract with the Filipino People will be fulfilled,” he added.
Lacierda said the improved ratings are proof of the public’s recognition towards curbing graft and corruption and poverty reduction.
The survey was taken from August 20 to September 2 by 1,200 respondents.
In the survey, the President’s approval rating was only at four percent, noting that President Aquino records the “same majority of approval and trust ratings across geographic areas”. (Madel
