MANILA, Philippines – He started to dream big when he got his first star four years ago, now comes its fulfillment as he officially donned yesterday a four-star rank which symbolizes his leadership of the Philippine National Police (PNP).
Director General Nicanor Bartolome said the occasion also marked the symbolism of all the four core values of the PNP which are Makatao, Maka-Diyos, Makabayan and Maka-kalikasan.
The presence of Commission on Human Rights (CHR) Chairperson Etta Rosales, who administered his oath of office as Director General, also represented a timely symbolism for his leadership, said Bartolome.
“This is to emphasize that the respect of human rights will be one of the top priorities of the PNP under my leadership, that there will be no shortcuts of procedures and that abuses must be a thing of the past,” said Bartolome.
“Strengthening of human rights is even one of my 10-point agenda by way of ensuring that there must be human rights desk in all police stations nationwide,” he added. (Aaron Recuenco)
