Manila, Philippines – Public Works and Highways Secretary Rogelio Singson is the country’s new water czar to supervise the protocol on the release of water from dams during the typhoon season, Malacañang announced yesterday.
President Aquino gave the additional assignment to Singson on top of his responsibility to manage the country’s clean and efficient water supply and use, according to Presidential Spokesman Edwin Lacierda.
“The President has already tasked Secretary Babes Singson to be the water czar for the moment to study the entire situation because you’ve got several agencies dealing with water so the President deemed it to appoint a water czar to look into all concerns regarding water,” Lacierda said.
