Manila, Philippines – The Pambansang Katipunan ng mga Magbubukid (PKM) has assailed the bid of Aquino allies to railroad Charter change (Cha-cha) as “a shameless sell-out of the national patrimony and economic sovereignty.”
PKM, one of 17-member organizations of the National Democratic Front (NDF), said such change would “be for the benefit of monopoly capitalist interests and local ruling class of big landlords and comprador bourgeoisie.”
Andres Agtalon, PKM spokesman, stressed “Aquino and his lackeys’ hell-bent political maneuvering to remove any remaining provisions that support national patrimony is a brazen puppetry to the United States.”
He argued that “these maneuvers are all in obedience with the US’ marching orders to the Aquino regime for the full-scale liberalization and deregulation of the economy.” (Marvyn N. Benaning)
